The name MechScape.co.cc was frankly a bit corny, so we put on our creative suits (consisting of a Ronald Mc Donald style face mask), and came up with a list of Mech-y names. One of those, MechSociety, which was #2 on the list of 15, was chosen by various unknowing voters. So, without further ado….
Most of us here feel this change is long overdue, and we can finally concentrate on our initial goal, world peace.
Also: you may still access most of the site (excluding the forum) from the old domain, mechscape.co.cc. It is, however, suggested you update your bookmarks.
Yes! It’s the update that only two of you have been waiting for; a redesigned MechScape.co.cc! Please contain your excitement. Those of you that are visiting for the first time won’t care about this at all, but on the contrary, those of you that have been with us for awhile may think it’s Christmas in July.
For those who care, here are some of the notable changes:
More compact menu
Main page content is closer to the top of the screen
Page width is fixed at 930 pixels
Everything is cleaner and more compact
The new colour scheme, brown
New header image
Suggestions are more welcome than ever in this forum.
Along with the site rework, I’m also going to be creating skins for the DevBlog and the Forum.
Random Factoid: In case anyone was wondering, this is the song that I was playing on repeat as I was coding.
Hello my minions. It is now time for the annual ritual where we as a cult celebrate the things we have, including new updates to the site… or network I should say.
As one of your fearless leaders, I’m pleased to announce that puppy dogs and rainbow-coloured ponies are now considered non-edible. Also, on a related note, we’ve added a site to our web of MechScape. This site is basically Wikipedia, only entirely for MechScape. Think of it as a knowledge pool of information filled to the brim with MechScape, that you’re free to swim in as you please, so long as you slip the lifeguard on duty a twenty dollar American bill. Actually, that’s not necessary with us… because we also take Euros.
Make sure to visit the Wiki here, and login at the top right with the same username and password that you use for the forum and chat here. Depending on your forum rank, you’ll be able to edit pages and create new ones. An example of a page can be found here.
If that wasn’t enough to make you get that special feeling in the pit of your liver, hold on to your seat, because you’re about to have a massive special-attack.
Josh has secured the domain MechScapeClan.com, and we’re planing to use it the right way and make it a MechScape (and possibly RuneScape too) clan. As I look onto the notes about the site that I have profusely scribbled over a Dairy Queen napkin, I can see that we plan to integrate it with MechScape.co.cc. That of course means that once you register here, you not only have access to this site, but also to the Wiki and Clan (if you so choose).
No, no, we’re not done there! Some of you might remember the ever so silent project concerning MechVideos.com. Well, I do, and I must say it’s truly exciting news to hear that it’s finally going to get a face lift and the ability to host and serve videos to you. Once again, you get another perk to registering to this site, and that’s the ability to upload, rate, and comment on videos on MechVideos.com! EPIC.
Last, and most least, the MechScape.co.cc site has gotten a minor facelift. No biggie, I just tweaked the navigation and the right sidebar to make things more streamlined and easy to find. Also, I added a search engine that will scour the vast wasteland that is the network of sites that I now dub, The MechScape Network, for the things you tell it to.
Hello, my name is Samantha, or YaLoooooooon as you might know me on YouTube. I’ll be moderating some of this wonderful site that we’re working on :). You may contact me on aim or yahoo instant messenger if you have any questions about the site (that hopefully I can answer :D.)
I finally got around to making a video about MechScape.co.cc. Though it’s not as nice as I would like, it gets the job done (I hope). In the coming months as the site matures and the design gets better, I might make some more.
My name is seb, and I’ll be doing two main things here, on Mechscape.co.cc. I’m responsible for a part of the research, and content writing.
Ryan said to me:
This project will be a huge learning curve for you.
And already this has been. This project gives me the opportunity to get better at researching on one certain topic, and then create diagrams of the research to keep everything organized. I would like to thank Ryan for this opportunity to work with him.
If you would like to contact me, or know more about me, I am active on the forums, so you can Post Message me there.
Hey ya’ll, is Keir. I live in Australia and I like porcupines.
I shall be doing work as a moderator on this here site, and I’ll do it well. My YouTube channel is www.youtube.com/goaliejr and I’ve played RuneScape for about 4 years on and off, aswell as loads more like WoW and CS:S.
I use Ubuntu 8.04/Windows XP as operating systems, tux is my lover.
Look forward to getting to know you all, have fun, Keir.
Describe Magix in 2 words. I can answer that immediately. Epic. Slawter.
Hey all, I’m Magix. I work for Fantikerz, (RJ) as a graphics commando. Fighting crime around every corner, I also have a place in the moderator circle. Though you may not see me there, I’ll blast my mod lazar out so fast, you won’t have time to think. I’m 12 years of age, and I do graphics. You see, the mentality of things changes throughout my days. Coincidently, this doesn’t change often. Usually I have mood swings talking on IM with my peers. Occasionally, I flip a horse load, and screech with epicness. Forums have brought many people together, mentally, and hopefully not physically. We can CONNECT on deep levels. Hopefully not inimitably.
I like a source of security, and hope to recieve that. If any creeps pop up, get prepared to get a size 9 straight up your.. carriage. Hopefully you all find a great time here, and I’ll see you around.
Hey everyone, figured id copy sp and do a little into as well ^.^
Well incase you cant figure it out, im Steve. I have at least some knowledge of all the (main) languages, as well as a few not-so-known ones. Im one of the admins here at mechscape.co.cc, looking to get this site going with a bang along with the rest of the team here. Also during the summer i work as a Field Tech, as well as dealing with a few other things, so im not new to technology in general.
Ive worked on sites before, and hosted em, ran my own servers, etc. Currently working on a site (not here) for the highschools robotics team, using that to experiment with new things as always ^.^
Well if you’ve read this far..then you really must have nothing better to do =P Hope to see you on the boards!
